About Us

Grand Champion Inspiration Erek of Ja Ja is #1 Siberian in USA (2007 and 2008) ACFA and UFO...Erek poses to the far right

Ja Ja Siberians is a small cattery, based in

Southwest Florida.   We are just above the alligator's nose where the cape juts out...the bridges across the Caloosahatchee River connect us with Fort Myers.

In addition to Siberians, we also breed and raise RagaMuffin kitties.  Our environment is a family atmosphere. Because our kittens are constantly with us, they become socialized and interact well with their new adoptive owners from an early age. Siberians are rather dog-like, in that they greet you when you return home and will follow you around the house - not forgetting that they will jump into your lap and demand affection!  They know their names and come running when called.

MEET THE HUGHES

janice and james

Southwest Florida

The mom is janice; the dad is jim.  I (janice) have had many pets over the past 40 years. These ranged from wild creatures rescued, as well as nursing homeless, defenseless babies, e.g., even an opossum which I returned to a sanctuary. I have had in my classroom when I was a teacher or currently have, gerbils, other rodents, aquatic fish, turtles, and even Jake-the-Snake who lives in our flowers and bushes.  Jim and I have two talking parrots, Lucy and Magnum.....  Magnum talks in two voices (a male/female dialog) and sings arias (opera).  Besides the Siberians, we have had Himalayans, Persians, a Ragdoll, and currently RagaMuffins - see

All of these wonderful pedigreed kitties we have come to learn about and understand through experience.

For 20 years, I bred Bearded Collies... in the beginning when they were a rare breed and first appeared in the US.... and have shown at AKC shows all over the country... Prestigious Westminster (New York City) every year, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, all states except Hawaii and Alaska... having owner-handled over 100 AKC champions (many were Canadian champions as well).

Later, I began on the ground floor with the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, also a rare breed from Poland.  Obviously my heart has been in rare breeds all along.  It is just a thrill to watch the breed captivate a following and develop into a most desirable pedigree breed for families.

We decided to purchase a beautiful Siberian
